Junior Club Competition
Sussex Hockey is responsible for running a range of Junior Competition for Clubs in the county. Junior competition is focused as much on fun and togetherness, as on competitiveness. Our current club competition activity includes:
Under 8 Festivals
Multiple times per season, Sussex Clubs come together to host small, tournament style festivals of game play for the youngest participants of our sport. These are focused on fun, learning and having a great time meeting other players across the county.
Under 10 Festivals & Tournaments
At Under 10 age groups, teams split in to genders. They move to playing 7-a-side, half-pitch games, which give the basis of all future competition in the sport. Sussex Hockey organises both regular club festival days and two county wide tournaments; The Ron Easton and the county In2Hockey tournaments..
Under 12 Festivals & Tournaments
Over the two years a player is an “Under 12” player, they have regular festivals in the 7-a-side format, developing their game understanding and enjoyment of the game. Sussex Hockey organises both regular friendly club festival days and two county wide tournaments; The Ron Easton and the county In2Hockey tournaments.
Junior Development League
Sussex is one of the only counties who run a “Junior Development League”. This league is designed to introduce players between the age of 11 and 15 to full pitch, 11-a-side hockey matches, combining a friendly development style environment, with a competitive league.
